Nod proteins are prrs that are intracellular and reside in the cytoplasm in an inactive form. Will recognize peptidoglycan and acts as a gram+ pump inside cell. Nod will dimerize upon binding to bacteria ligand derived from peptidoglycan, bind to a kinase that will activate nfkb signalling cascade. Rig-i proteins use viral nucleic acids as ligand. Dimerization, recruit and activate molecules that then activate. Il-1, il-6, tnf- , and il-12 for th1 response. These are the ones secreted for viral infections.
