One of the four funcions that consitute the management process (planning, organizing, leading, controlling) The foundaion of leadership success rests with the ability to make things happen in ways that serve the goals of the team or organizaion. Power is the ability to get someone else to do something you want done or to make things happen the way you want. The posiive face of power is the foundaion of efecive leadership. Power of the posiion: based on things managers can ofer to others. Power of the person: based on how managers are viewed by others. Personal power: expert power is the capacity to inluence other people because of specialized knowledge, referent power is the capacity to inluence other people because of their desire to idenify personally with you. Successful leadership is associated with vision a clear sense of the future.
