Assume that you were recently assigned to the position of head of the HR department in a medium sized furniture manufacturing company. The company is male orientated and it is considering importing new technology. In the new role, you need to make decisions relevant to recruiting and selecting new employees, and relevant to developing, promoting, and retaining the new and the existing employees. In addition, your role requires collaborating with other departments and with the management of the company as part of your strategic HR role.

Please answer the following questions:

1. Present a convincing argument on the importance of involving employees in making the final decision on importing the new technology.  Suggest strategies to influence the management to accept employee involvement in the decision making process.
2. Develop a plan to demonstrate how you would communicate the management’s intention to import the new technology to the employees and gather their insights. Also, discuss all the factors that you would consider before you communicate your message to employees.
