PSYA01H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 4: Auditory Cortex, Stapes, Middle Ear
Document Summary
The dorsal stream: extends from visual cortex in our occipital lobe upwards to the parietal lobe, ventral stream identi es the object, dorsal stream locates it in space and allows you to interact with it. Binocular depth cues - distance cues that are based on differing perspectives of both eyes. Convergence - occurs when eye muscles contract so both eyes focus on a single object. Monocular cues - depth cues that we can perceive with only one eye. Motion parallax; it is used when you or your surroundings are in motion. Texture gradient: objects that are coarse and distinct at close range become ne and grainy at greater distances. Function of the ear= detect sound waved and transform to neural signals. Frequency refers to wavelength and is measured in hertz (hz), the number of cycles a sound wave travels per second.
