Background and context

The light-dependent reactions mainly occur in the photosystems. They are formed up of complex proteins and are present in the thylakoids membrane.  Photosystem I (PSI) and Photosystem II (PSII) are two different types of the photosystem. Both of them comprise different photosynthetic pigments. They are named in the sequence of their discoveries.
