MGHB02H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 1: Reinforcement, Classical Conditioning, Operant Conditioning
Document Summary
Learning - any process through which practice or experience at one time can alter an individual"s behavior at another time. Intrapersonal skills (about the person, problem solving, critical thinking) Interpersonal skills (anything to do with others, communicating, teamwork) Classical conditioning- occurs when a neutral object comes to elicit a reflexive response when it is associated with a stimulus that already produces that response (dog salivating when food comes, and when bell rings) Operant conditioning- occurs when consequence of an action determines the likelihood that it will be performed in the future. (rat experiment) Reinforcement and punishment- consequence of an action increase (or decrease) the likelihood that action will be repeated. Reinforcement is like nagging, which is a negative reinforcement. Positive reinforcement employee recognition programs- formal organizational programs that publicly recognize and reward employees for specific behaviours. A token or icon of the event for the recipient.
